Authorities in Telangana's Medak district have arrested four individuals, including a nurse from a private hospital, in a shocking case of illegal newborn trafficking. The arrests were made after the mother of the child, previously informed her baby had died, lodged a complaint.
According to law enforcement, the 27-year-old mother was traveling from Hyderabad when an unfortunate incident led to her early labor. Upon giving birth, she was deceitfully told by a nurse that her child was dead, while in reality, the child was sold for Rs 1.5 lakh to a childless couple.
The baby was sold through a mediator, who, along with the nurse and the couple, now faces charges under child trafficking laws. The police swiftly acted and rescued the infant, reuniting her with her mother. The investigation is ongoing, focusing on the involvement of the hospital in this grim episode.
