Condom Safety Alert: French Agencies Issue Urgent Recall
French authorities have recalled 260,000 condoms due to safety concerns. Tests revealed risks of bursting and perforations. Users are advised to check for STDs and pregnancy. The recall includes non-compliant brands lacking EU seals, prompting removals from online platforms.
French anti-fraud and health agencies have sounded the alarm over potentially unsafe condoms, recalling 260,000 units sold in pharmacies and shops. Laboratory tests discovered risks of bursting and perforations in two products, urging users to seek STD screenings and pregnancy tests if needed.
The Directorate-General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and the Prevention of Fraud (DGCCRF) alongside the Directorate General of Health (DGS) identified 30 condom lines on online platforms missing the EU conformity seal or French labeling, with over 40,000 sold prior to removal agreements with marketplaces.
Included in the recalls are brands such as Okamoto Industries and French labels like My Lubie and Friday Bae. Despite reassurances from My Lubie's CEO regarding subsequent conforming tests, the batch was voluntarily pulled. Okamoto Industries and Friday Bae were unavailable for comment.
