Condom Alert: Safety Concerns Lead to Massive Recall in France
French anti-fraud and health agencies have warned against unsafe condoms sold online and in stores. Around 260,000 condoms have been recalled due to risks of bursting and perforation. Consumers are advised to get tested for STDs and pregnancy if they used these products.
On Friday, French anti-fraud and health agencies issued a warning concerning the sale of tens of thousands of potentially unsafe condoms, both on the internet and in physical stores and pharmacies.
Lab tests have prompted the recall of approximately 260,000 condoms due to identified risks of bursting and perforations. Shoppers are urged to be screened for sexually transmitted diseases and take a pregnancy test if a menstrual period is missed.
Further investigations revealed that 30 online condom listings lacked EU conformity seal or French labeling. Approximately 1,000 boxes, containing over 40,000 condoms, have already been purchased. Affected brands include Japanese firm Okamoto Industries, My Lubie, and Friday Bae by Passage du Desir.
