The World Health Organization has announced in a press release that the lady who visited Uganda from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and later died of Ebola in DRC did not go to Rwanda.

Earlier there was information that the deceased lady traveled to Goma and Gisenyi in Rwanda. But the WHO has said that information was not verified in the latest released clarification note on the movement of the deceased lady.

The note further said WHO regrets and retracts information that appeared in its Situation report (Sitrep number 36) which caused an impression of confirmed travel by the deceased lady to Gisenyi in Rwanda, which information was from the community informants and is not verifiable at this moment. Adding that following information sharing with investigation teams in DRC through WHO, it now believes that the deceased lady did not travel to Gisenyi or Goma as earlier on suggested.

The 22-year-old lady came from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to Uganda to sell fish and went back to DRC where she died and was found to be Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) positive.
