Austrian Indologist Borayin Larios met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday in Vienna. Larios described the meeting as an honour and a surprise, noting that they discussed Indology and other research initiatives.

Larios highlighted Austria's long-standing tradition of studying Indian languages and cultures. 'It was very moving to see the orchestra play Vande Mataram on the news. It's true that Austria has a very long tradition of studying Indian languages and cultures,' he stated.

He expressed optimism that the discussion with PM Modi would enhance the visibility of their research. 'Having PM Modi here in Austria will boost the visibility of our work. We had the opportunity to meet PM Modi to discuss our areas of research,' Larios said.

Speaking to ANI, Larios said it was an honour to see PM Modi interested in his research topics. 'It was a great honour and surprise to see the Prime Minister so interested in our research topics. We had an extensive conversation on the different areas we research in Vienna in Indology, including studying Sanskrit and various projects,' he added.

Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer tweeted about agreements between Indian and Austrian technical universities. 'In the areas of science and research, we are close to concluding an important cooperation agreement between Austrian and Indian technical universities,' he said. 'This agreement, along with further partnerships, will significantly enhance our cooperation in pharmaceuticals, education, technology, digital infrastructure, and space technology. Austria offers substantial expertise, know-how, and innovative power in these areas,' he concluded.
