Public contractors in Gilgit City demonstrated outside the Public Works Department office, alleging corrupt practices by officials in tender allotments. The protest, which took place on Tuesday, spotlighted the rampant corruption, with contractors claiming that tenders are often awarded without following proper procedures, according to WTV.

Protesters emphasized their frustration over being sidelined. Many contractors reported that upon arriving to apply for contracts, they were informed that tenders had already been allotted. "We urge the chief secretary to take action against these corrupt officials. We cannot tolerate this any longer," a contractor stated.

Another contractor recounted instances where developmental project contracts were allegedly canceled only to be awarded the next day unlawfully. The prevailing sentiment among the contractors was a call for immediate removal of corrupt officials, highlighting their dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs in PoGB.
