Former US President Donald Trump concluded his speech at the Republican National Convention on Friday with a call for unity, urging Americans to rise above past differences. 'We must now come together, rise above past differences. Any disagreements have to be put aside. America's future will be bigger, better, bolder, brighter, happier, stronger, freer, greater, and more united than ever before,' Trump said.
Trump emphasized that we live in a world of miracles and acknowledged the unpredictability of God's plans. He was later joined on stage by his wife Melania Trump and daughter Ivanka Trump. 'Nothing will ever slow us down, no matter the obstacles. We will strive together to save this country, restore the republic, and usher in a wonderful tomorrow. In simple terms, we will make America great again,' he vowed.
Trump described the current illegal immigration from South America, Asia, and the Middle East as the 'world's greatest invasion,' blaming the Biden administration for failing to address it. 'I will resolve the illegal immigration crisis by securing our borders,' Trump asserted. 'In just under four years, our adversaries transformed our achievements into hardship. Illegal immigrants are stealing jobs from Black, Hispanic, and union workers. Inflation has eradicated savings, plunging the middle class into despair. We must not let this persist.'
Criticizing Biden's border policy, Trump pointed to a chart showing increased border detentions, claiming the same chart saved his life during a previous rally. 'This is the chart that saved my life. I never got to look at it,' he remarked.
Under his administration, Trump noted, illegal entrants were deported, and policies like catch and release and asylum fraud were shut down. He also pledged to build an Iron Dome in the US and end wars with a phone call. Additionally, Trump promised to eliminate the electric vehicle mandate and cut taxes on tips. 'A waitress shared with me that the government is giving her a hard time over her tips. I proposed, What if there was no tax on tips? She was thrilled by the idea,' Trump said.
