The Baloch Yakjehti Committee has issued a scathing condemnation of Pakistan and China for exploiting Balochistan's resources, in a statement titled 'Imperial Megaprojects and Our National Survival' on social media platform X. The committee underscores decades of oppression in Balochistan, comparing their situation to that of an imperial colony.
The statement highlights that while the Baloch have been rightful custodians of their land, they live like refugees, subjected to enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and military operations. It particularly points to Gwadar, a keystone in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), accusing it of denying locals essential services such as clean water while the zone remains heavily militarized.
The committee claims Pakistan prioritizes exploiting Baloch resources through megaprojects like CPEC, worsening persecution. Vowing no longer to remain silent, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee announced a public movement against these injustices, aiming to confront Pakistan and international stakeholders like China. The statement demands an end to the Baloch genocide and the recognition of Baloch national rights as non-negotiable.
