Vice President Kamala Harris held her first rally with newly announced VP pick, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, local time, as reported by CNN. The energetic event at the Liacouras Center at Temple University saw a full house applauding the candidates as they took the stage together.

Walz, a former educator and second-term governor, currently chairs the Democratic Governors Association. Having previously served 12 years in Congress, he represented a conservative-leaning rural district. Following the VP announcement, Harris and Walz's campaign raised over USD 10 million, marking one of the campaign's best fundraising days, according to spokesperson Lauren Hitt.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, a former finalist for Harris's VP spot, expressed his support at the rally. He praised Walz as an outstanding governor, teacher, Guardsman, great patriot, and a dear friend. This rally underscored Walz's emergence from a list of high-profile contenders, bolstering his recognition ahead of the election.

Taking to X, Harris expressed pride in selecting Walz as her running mate, highlighting his diverse background. Walz reciprocated, hailing the partnership as the honor of a lifetime. The chemistry between Harris and Walz was palpable, seen as crucial by campaign insiders.

This development follows President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the race, with Trump naming venture capitalist JD Vance as his running mate for his White House comeback bid.
