Indian-American Congressman Ro Khanna has appealed to Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus to emphasize the rule of law and halt violence targeting temples and political factions. The appeal comes as Bangladesh navigates a volatile political phase, following Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation amid intensifying protests on August 5.

Primarily driven by student-led anti-government demonstrations against the quota system in government jobs, the protests escalated into a broader call for change. Khanna took to social media platform X to assert, 'Bangladeshi students had just human rights concerns against PM Hasina. It's good she is gone. But the violence now targeting Hindus is wrong. PM Yunus must uphold the rule of law & prevent the targeting of temples or people of any political party or faith from violence.'

Subsequently, President Mohammed Shahabuddin dissolved the parliament to facilitate an interim administration led by Muhammad Yunus, with an oath-taking ceremony scheduled at 8:00 PM local time. Bangladesh Army chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has voiced optimism that normalcy will return within days, emphasizing the interim government's commitment to legal actions against recent criminal activities.
