A tragic aviation accident took place on the outskirts of Sao Paulo on Friday, with a passenger plane carrying 62 individuals crashing, according to Brazil's Civil Defence, as reported by CNN. The aircraft, reportedly striking several houses during its descent, has left the fate of those onboard uncertain.

Flightradar24 data indicated that the Voepass aircraft was en route from Cascavel to Sao Paulo when it lost signal around 1:30 pm local time. The airline confirmed that Flight 2283 had 58 passengers and four crew members at the time of the incident. The whereabouts and condition of those onboard remain unknown, with ongoing investigations to determine the cause of the crash.

In a statement released on Friday, Voepass acknowledged the plane's crash in Vinhedo, near Sao Paulo, but refrained from commenting on the fate of the passengers. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva expressed his sorrow, suggesting that all passengers are presumed dead and extending his solidarity to the victims' families and friends. Disturbing social media videos show the plane spiraling uncontrollably before the crash. Authorities are awaiting further information.
