Hungarian MP Hails India’s Role in Global Peace Efforts

He praised External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s peace initiatives and India-Hungary growing ties. By Ayushi Agarwal Balazs Orban, Political Director of the Hungarian Prime Minister and Member of Parliament, underscored India’s growing influence and pivotal role in easing tensions between Russia and Ukraine during a Thursday interview.
Orban lauded External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for his robust representation of India on the global stage. 'Your foreign minister is doing a wonderful job. He is representing India in a very strong way on the world stage. India is a rising power,' he told ANI.
Orban emphasized Hungary and India’s shared commitment to peace, noting that both countries are making collaborative efforts to mediate and stop the ongoing bloodshed. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ukraine and highlighted Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s Peace Mission Tour aimed at creating a new strategy to halt the conflict.
Discussing the growing ties between India and Hungary, Orban highlighted shared cultural and historical values as essential for successful foreign and domestic policies. He expressed hope for increased high-level visits and deeper cooperation between the Hungarian Conservative Party and India’s BJP.
Earlier, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar met Orban in New Delhi, reinforcing the historical connections between the two nations. Jaishankar expressed appreciation for Orban’s interest in these ties on social media platform X.
Orban's remarks follow recent parliamentary exchanges, including a delegation led by Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman RS Harivansh visiting Hungary and a visit by Hungarian Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee President Zsolt Nemeth to India.
