UAE Libraries Forum: Bridging Culture and Digital Innovation

The UAE Libraries Forum, inaugurated by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, commenced in Sharjah, focusing on enhancing libraries' role in culture and digital innovation. The event includes a Manuscripts Exhibition and discussions on digital transformation, fostering collaboration between library professionals and global experts.

The inaugural UAE Libraries Forum kicked off in Sharjah with Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority, at the helm. This two-day event, attracting both local and international experts, aims to reinforce the cultural and knowledge role of libraries while navigating the challenges of digital transformation and innovation in the sector.

Organized by the Emirates Library and Information Association at the Sharjah Book Authority headquarters, the event featured the opening of a Manuscripts Exhibition. With 21 rare manuscripts and books on display, the exhibition highlights the richness of Arab and Islamic cultural heritage, demonstrating the historical and artistic depth found in literature, jurisprudence, science, and philosophy.

Sheikha Bodour, as part of the forum, explored the exhibition and engaged with participating institutions showcasing their library services and innovations. The forum serves as a platform for collaboration, enhancing communication among library professionals and presenting the latest digital solutions aimed at evolving library services. Discussions also included protecting cultural heritage, addressing challenges in smart societies, and drawing lessons from global digital transformation experiences in libraries.
