Denmark announced the launch of its Green Transition Alliance India (GTAI), an initiative aimed at strengthening collaboration with India in sustainable energy solutions and accelerating efforts toward global carbon neutrality. The Danish Embassy highlighted that this strategic alliance is spearheaded by Denmark's Embassy and Consulate General in India. It aims to cultivate an ecosystem that promotes cooperative endeavors between businesses, government bodies, research institutions, and financial stakeholders from both nations.
Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, Denmark's Ambassador to India, emphasized the imperative need for decisive action on climate change and the role of international collaboration in driving the green transition. He affirmed that Danish companies bring valuable expertise to this global effort, while India's burgeoning capabilities in sustainable energy are crucial to this partnership's success. Kristensen expressed optimism about the Green Strategic Partnership's impact and stated that the Green Transition Alliance would bolster the shared commitment to advancing green energy solutions.
The initiative sees participation from several pioneering Danish companies, such as Grundfos, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, Baettr, Novonesis, MASH Makes, ROCKWOOL, and A. P. Moller-Maersk, all notable entities within the energy sector. Strategic partners will include industry experts and researchers to ensure that these efforts align with the latest industry trends. Noteworthy partners comprise the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), the Indo-Danish Chamber of Commerce (IDCC), the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI), and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras Energy Consortium. The announcement coincides with India's acceleration towards net zero emissions by 2070, while Denmark aims for the same by 2045. Emerging from the Green Fuels Alliance India (GFAI) and Wind Alliance India (WAI), the GTAI will include companies forming three Working Groups focused on Renewable Energy, Green Fuels, and Energy Efficiency.
