In a troubling development, Pakistani forces are reported to have allegedly detained two brothers in Balochistan's Kech district, raising alarms over increasing incidents of enforced disappearances in the region. As reported by The Balochistan Post, Shahnawaz and Abdul Khaliq, sons of Haji Allah Bakhsh, were taken to an undisclosed location on February 1.
Their family remains in distress, as their whereabouts remain unknown, prompting calls to authorities for their safe return. Enforced disappearances have become a grim reality in Balochistan, with families protesting tirelessly in cities like Naseerabad, Pasni, and Quetta against extrajudicial actions by alleged state-backed death squads.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee, highlighting these serious issues on social media, termed it as part of a broader 'Baloch genocide' by the state. Demonstrations have seen participation from a wide cross-section of society, including women, children, and the elderly, who stand against continued oppression.
