Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, touched down in India's capital on Thursday for a two-day official visit. Calling India a 'trusted friend' and 'strategic ally,' her trip signifies the deepening ties between Europe and India.

During her visit, von der Leyen will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss elevating the strategic partnership. She has expressed the importance of having reliable partners amid global conflicts and competition, further underscoring India as a key ally for Europe.

The visit, which marks the first by the EU College of Commissioners to India, aims to build upon the already robust relations that have been in place since 2004. This engagement is a significant step towards strengthening ties as both sides enter the third decade of their strategic partnership.
