Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is attempting to clarify the uncertainty surrounding its current flight ban to the United Kingdom. This comes as ARY News reported conflicting updates regarding the status of the airline's flight operations on Wednesday.

A PIA spokesperson, speaking to ARY News, explained that the UK Department for Transport (DFT) has not yet decided on lifting the ban on flights from Pakistan. They stated that no formal communication or public statement had been issued by the UK authorities regarding a change in status.

Despite reports of continuing restrictions, PIA highlighted their compliance with all requirements set by a recent DFT audit. While hopeful for reinstatement, PIA continues engaging with UK aviation authorities and urges the public to refrain from rumor-mongering.

Contradictory reports suggest PIA remains listed on the UK's Air Safety List, which prevents certified Pakistani air carriers from flying commercial services to or from the UK. This includes not just PIA but also Airblue Limited, AirSial, SereneAir, and Vision Air International among others, according to the UK government.

Meanwhile, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) had lifted its ban on PIA in November 2024, potentially allowing a path forward for UK operations. However, the situation remains uncertain until further audits are finalized and decisions made by the UK Department for Transport.
