External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has recognized the critical role India's innovation ecosystem plays in driving the nation's growth, employment, and economic transformation as the country celebrates the tenth anniversary of the Startup India initiative. This milestone highlights the influence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the implementation of sustained reforms, the strengthening of digital infrastructure, and the establishment of supportive policies catering to entrepreneurs, bolstering India's global economic influence.

Speaking on this occasion, Prime Minister Modi commemorated the courage, innovative spirit, and entrepreneurial zeal, especially among the youth, which has elevated India's status within the global startup ecosystem. He emphasized the government's commitment to fortifying the startup ecosystem by fostering collaboration with all stakeholders to build upon this success.

Prime Minister Modi further noted India's ambitious pursuits through the 'Reform Express', creating a favorable climate for startups to explore uncharted territories, including space and defense sectors. This shift aligns with the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, encouraging youthful risk-taking and problem-solving. He lauded the contributions of mentors, incubators, investors, and academic institutions in facilitating startup growth and innovation.

The Startup India initiative, inaugurated on January 16, 2016, aims to nurture innovation, foster entrepreneurship, and drive investment-led expansion, transforming India into a nation of job creators rather than job seekers. Celebrating a decade, the initiative has become a pillar of India's economic and innovation framework, enhancing institutional mechanisms, expanding capital and mentorship access, and creating an enabling environment for startup development across sectors and regions.

India's startup landscape has witnessed explosive growth, with over 200,000 startups gaining recognition nationwide. These enterprises have emerged as substantial contributors to employment generation, innovation-led economic advancement, and the reinforcement of domestic value chains across various sectors.
