British Indian entrepreneur and parliamentarian Lord Swraj Paul has pledged to donate Rs 1 lakh each to the families of the soldiers killed in the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district last week. Paul, who is also Chancellor of the University of Wolverhampton, made the announcement on Monday during a naming ceremony of a building at the university in central England after his late son Angad Paul, attended by Indian High Commissioner to the UK Ruchi Ghanashyam.

"We have read about the great tragedy which has happened in India in the recent murder of soldiers," Paul said, in reference to the February 14 killing of 40 CRPF jawans by the Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist group. "I would like to send my heart-felt condolences to the families and would also like to donate 1 lakh rupees each to the families of all the soldiers who have died," he said in his speech.

The London-based industrialist and long-time supporter of the University of Wolverhampton was leading a ceremony at the campus to name its main building The Angad Paul Building in memory of his son who passed away in November 2015.
