Uproar in Balochistan: Student Leaders Face Enforced Disappearances
The Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) has raised concerns over the disappearance of BSO Pajjar leader Babul Malik Baloch, highlighting the challenging education landscape in Balochistan, marked by student harassment and enforced disappearances. Authorities are urged to reconsider policies and ensure a safe educational environment.
Amid rising tensions in Balochistan, the Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) has expressed grave concern over the disappearance of Babul Malik Baloch, a leader of the BSO Pajjar student organization, from a Quetta hostel. The incident underscores the 'anti-education' climate perceived by the committee, with harassment and enforced disappearances becoming alarmingly frequent.
Babul Malik Baloch, the central senior vice chairman of BSO Pajjar, was reportedly taken from the Polytechnic College hostel in the dead of night and taken to an undisclosed location. The Balochistan Post highlights that such kidnappings contribute to the fear and uncertainty among students, discouraging families from pursuing education.
BSAC has condemned these acts, urging authorities to promptly release Babul Malik Baloch and other detainees to reestablish trust and facilitate peaceful learning environments. Human rights groups continue to report on enforced disappearances and extrajudicial actions, fueling tensions between the Baloch community and the state.
