The United States Department of State has unveiled a reward of up to $15 million for information leading to the disruption of financial mechanisms linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). This measure is a part of an escalated sanctions campaign targeting Tehran's alleged illicit oil and funding networks amid ongoing tensions in West Asia. Announcing the initiative on Monday, State Department spokesperson Thomas "Tommy" Pigott highlighted that the US is amplifying efforts under its 'Economic Fury' sanctions strategy, aimed at dismantling revenue streams allegedly used for funding terrorism and promoting regional instability.

The Trump Administration has sharpened its focus on the financial infrastructure supporting the IRGC by zeroing in on its purported illicit oil operations. In a statement, the US Department of State noted that its Rewards for Justice program is offering a substantial reward for information that could lead to the disruption of these financial networks, which include various branches of the IRGC.

The sanctions, as announced, target a network accused of facilitating the sale and shipment of Iranian oil on behalf of the IRGC. This includes actions against three senior IRGC officials alleged to be involved in coordinating financial transactions related to oil. The measures are intended to sever funding channels the US claims are used to support proxy groups and military operations across the region, asserting that the economic hardships faced by the Iranian populace are a result of governmental corruption and mismanagement.
