Miami Heat point guard Goran Dragic and forward Derrick Jones Jr. might not play Thursday night at Philadelphia despite being cleared for action. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra told reporters Thursday that he's "not necessarily planning on playing" either player against the 76ers. Both Dragic and Jones practised Wednesday and are available.
Spoelstra said Wednesday that both players "need a little more work." Dragic has played in just 14 games this season. He underwent surgery in December to clean out his right knee. Jones has been nursing bone bruises in his right knee after a fall last month in New York against the Knicks.
In Jones' case, his return is ahead of schedule. Dragic has averaged 15.3 points and 4.9 assists in limited action. Jones is averaging 7.4 points this season.
Both players will be on minutes restriction when they do return to action. The Heat return home to play the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.
