Double Tragedy Strikes: Gunmen Attack Locals in Balochistan and Newlyweds in Karachi
In a grim day of violence, gunmen opened fire in Balochistan's Shahrag area, killing five and injuring three. Meanwhile, a newlywed couple was violently killed in Karachi after leaving court proceedings. The incidents underscore rising insecurity as authorities hunt for suspects linked to familial disputes.
In a harrowing sequence of events, five individuals were fatally shot and three others wounded when unidentified armed assailants unleashed indiscriminate gunfire in Balochistan's Shahrag area. According to Ary News, local law enforcement reported that the armed men had set up a checkpoint near Sheikh Musa Baba Chowk, where they scrutinized the Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) of passersby.
The police detailed that the situation escalated into violence after a confrontation broke out as locals resisted the ID checks. Four victims died on the spot, while a fifth succumbed to injuries en route to Quetta for medical attention. The deceased have been named as Zaman Shah, Zia-ul-Haq, Abdul Qahir, JUI leader Maulvi Zahid Shah, and Ikramullah Shah, while three injured persons were transported for advanced medical care.
Simultaneously, Karachi witnessed a separate act of violence where a newlywed couple was shot dead shortly after leaving a courtroom to affirm their marriage. The chilling ambush occurred in the Saudabad area, and police investigations point to the woman's family as orchestrating the attack due to her defiance of traditional pressures. She had testified in court that her marriage was consensual, only for both to fall victim in a tragic culmination of familial discord.
