Strengthening Ties: Australia and India Elevate Defence Cooperation

Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles is set to visit India for the 2nd Australia-India Defence Ministers' Dialogue, following his participation in the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. The focus is to deepen the bilateral defence partnership and address regional security challenges, particularly in the Indo-Pacific.

Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, Richard Marles, is scheduled to visit India to meet Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for the second Australia-India Defence Ministers' Dialogue. This meeting signals significant advancements in the two nations' defence ties, aiming to bolster cooperation, according to a statement from the Australian Defence Ministry.

Before arriving in India, Marles will participate in the 23rd Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. Organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies, this influential defence and security forum convenes key global and regional leaders to address shared security concerns, with a focus on the Indo-Pacific region.

During the event, Marles intends to deliver an address on maritime security challenges in Asia and engage with various international and regional defence officials. 'Our commitment to strengthening diplomatic and defence ties remains resolute, especially in the Indo-Pacific,' Marles stated. The dialogue with India is expected to build upon the accomplishments of the previous meeting and advance the collaborative vision set forth by both nations' Prime Ministers.
