Rockets' start guard Harden suffering cervical injury

Star guard James Harden is listed as questionable for the Houston Rockets' on Saturday road game against the Golden State Warriors because of a cervical neck strain. Harden was bothered by soreness Thursday during the Rockets' 111-106 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. He was seen receiving treatment to the neck and right shoulder during the contest.

The ailment didn't stop Harden from scoring 30 points to post his 32nd consecutive 30-point effort, the second-longest streak in NBA history behind Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain's 65-game run. Harden, the reigning NBA MVP, is averaging a league-leading 36.5 points this season.

Harden had a huge outing against the Warriors on Jan. 3 when he had 44 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds in a 135-134 overtime win. He capped the performance with a game-winning 3-pointer his season-high 10th of the game despite being double-teamed by Draymond Green and Klay Thompson. Harden was bothered by a left shoulder strain prior to the All-Star break but didn't miss any contests. He has played in 55 of Houston's 58 games as he missed three games early in the season due to a hamstring injury.
