In a landmark event, the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, in collaboration with the Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI), organized a seminar aimed at exploring AI collaboration opportunities between the two nations. The seminar, titled 'India-Nepal Partnership in Emerging Technologies,' attracted stakeholders from various sectors to deliberate on harnessing AI for mutual economic advancement.
A highlight of the seminar was the keynote speech by Pratyush Kumar, CEO of Sarvam AI, which was one of the initiatives spotlighted under the Innovation Centre of the IndiaAI Mission. The mission focuses on developing foundational AI models with an investment of Rs 246.72 crore. NICCI President Sunil KC called for deeper tech-driven economic cooperation and urged the Indian AI sector to expand into Nepal, fostering partnerships across public and private domains.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Digital India BHASHINI Division and Kathmandu University to bolster Language AI and digital infrastructure cooperation. At the recent India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, which hosted over 100 international delegations, significant agreements were reached, showcasing robust India-Nepal technological engagement and drawing substantial global investments.
