In a significant diplomatic development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the enhancement of India-Slovakia relations to a 'Comprehensive Partnership' during a joint press conference with Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico on Monday.

Emphasizing the historic nature of his visit, the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia, Modi underlined the shared values of trust, priorities, and future vision between the two nations. He highlighted Slovakia's deep cultural ties with India, including the translation of Indian Upanishads into Slovak and the contributions of the Indian diaspora in Slovakia.

The Indian delegation, comprising key officials like External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, held in-depth talks with their Slovak counterparts in Bratislava. Earlier, Modi received a ceremonial welcome and a Guard of Honour, marking a promising new chapter in Indo-Slovak relations.
