Moldova's Socialists, Democratic Party neck and neck in parliamentary election

Moldova's opposition Socialist Party and the ruling Democratic Party were neck and neck in Sunday's parliamentary election, reflecting opinion polls that had predicted a hung parliament.

With 30 percent of votes counted, the Socialists had a share of 29.5 percent, while the Democratic Party had 28.8 percent, according to preliminary results published on the election commission's website. (Reporting by Alexander Tanas; Writing by Matthias Williams; Editing by Peter Cooney)
