Kazakh President orders govt to allocate USD 2.6 bln to boost public sector pay

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev ordered his government on Wednesday to allocate 980 billion tenge (about $2.6 billion) towards boosting public sector salaries in the next three years. Nazarbayev, who might seek re-election in a vote scheduled next year, also ordered about $790 million to be earmarked for social assistance to low-income families.
