UK's Healey poised to tax banks in budget, the Guardian says

British ​finance ‌minister John Healey ​is poised to tax ‌banks in his budget later this month to keep ‌deficit-reduction plans on track ‌after the impact of the Iran war on the ⁠country's ​public ⁠finances, the Guardian reported on Thursday. The ⁠newspaper said Healey had ​decided to tap the ⁠financial sector for additional revenue ⁠to ​help offset higher government borrowing costs.

He is ⁠due to deliver his ⁠first ⁠budget on October 28.
