Hurricanes' Svechnikov leaves after dropping punch from Ovechkin

Carolina Hurricanes rookie Andrei Svechnikov exited Monday night's Game 3 against the Washington Capitals after he was dropped by a punch from Alex Ovechkin in Raleigh, N.C. Svechnikov appeared to be knocked out.

The first-period fight came shortly after Carolina scored for a 1-0 lead, marking the first time it has been on top in the series. The fighting majors were the first penalties called in the game, coming 10:59 into the contest. Washington entered the game with a 2-0 series lead.

Svechnikov scored the two Carolina goals in Game 1.
