Report: Bucks set to waive PG Hill

George Hill gave the Milwaukee Bucks a big lift in the playoffs, but his price tag is apparently too much to keep him around. The Bucks plan to waive the veteran point guard, who came to Milwaukee in a three-team trade in December, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Hill, 33, had one year and $18 million left on his deal. The Bucks would only have to pay him $1 million if he is waived before July 1. The added salary cap relief could help the Bucks keep players such as Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez and Malcolm Brogdon in the fold. After joining the Bucks, Hill averaged 6.8 points per game during the regular season but upped that to 11.5 points per game during their playoff run.

Milwaukee finished the season with the league's best record at 60-22 but fell to the Toronto Raptors in six games in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Bucks reportedly would like to bring Hill back at a lower price, perhaps with the mid-level exception that figures to be worth around $5 million per season.

Hill, who entered the league in 2008, also has played with the San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers, Utah Jazz, Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers. --Field Level Media
