The Philadelphia 76ers renounced the rights to 7-foot-2 centre Anzejs Pasecniks, a 2017 first-round draft pick, according to multiple reports. The Orlando Magic selected him with the No. 25 pick that year, then dealt him to the Sixers for a protected future first-rounder and a second-round selection.

The 76ers decided the Latvian should play in Europe to continue to develop, but players still count against the cap at 80 percent of rookie scale until they sign or agree in writing not to sign. The Athletic reported Pasecniks told the 76ers he wanted to play in the NBA in the 2019-20 season, but Philadelphia has limited cap space after agreeing to a four-year, $109 million deal with veteran big man Al Horford.

Instead, the 76ers will allow Pasecniks, 23, to pursue a deal elsewhere.
