Thomas Cook says some 140,000 people travelling with its German subsidiaries

Thomas Cook said there were around 140,000 people currently traveling with its German subsidiaries, with a further 21,000 booked to depart on Monday and Tuesday.

A German government official said at the weekend that compulsory insurance should cover the repatriation needs of most German travelers, should they be stranded by the venerable tour operator's collapse.
