Maha: Deputy collector, two others detained for taking bribe

A deputy collector and two other employees of the district administration have been detained for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4.5 lakh in Maharashtra's Parbhani city, police said on Tuesday. A complaint was lodged against deputy collector Swati Suryavanshi, government official Shrikant Karbhajane and engineer Abdul Hakim for allegedly demanding 1.5 per cent of the cost of the developmental work proposal submitted by the municipal council of Gangakhed, an official said.
