Man arrested for raping his minor daughter in West Garo Hills of Meghalaya

A man was arrested on the charge of raping his 10-year-old daughter in West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya, police said Monday. Though the alleged incident had taken place late last month, her mother lodged a complaint Sunday and he was taken into custody, Superintendent of Police Dr. MGR Kumar said.

However, the accused has surrendered to the police before that. Kumar said after the police were informed of the matter recently, a team from the Tura Women's police station reached the house of the victim.

"The girl and her grandmother refused to talk to the police on the matter and the husband and wife were away at that time. He surrendered before the police last evening," said Dr. Kumar.

When produced before a court, he was remanded to judicial custody.
