The Madhya Pradesh police on Tuesday arrested four persons for allegedly trying to sell a suspected material, claiming that it is uranium, for Rs 3 crore, an official said.

Acting on a tip-off, officials from the Special Task Force (STF) nabbed Shammi Rajput (22), Yogesh Chandra Shukla (35), Seemu Shukla (32) and Kamal Kumar Verma (32), the STF's Indore unit inspector M A Syed said.

The accused are all residents of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, the official said.

''We had sent one of our men as a decoy customer to Kesarbagh Bridge, where the accused persons are trying to sell some golden colour material stored in a bottle claiming that it was uranium worth Rs 3 crore,'' Syed said.

The police have seized 2 gm of the suspected material in a powder form from the accused and sent it to a laboratory for testing, he said.

The STF has informed the Kanpur police about the arrest and seizure and the matter is being probed further.
