The high courts of Allahabad, Chhattisgarh and Patna got new chief justices on Friday.

Justice Pritinker Diwaker, a judge of the Allahabad High Court, was appointed as its chief justice.

Justice Ramesh Sinha, another judge of the Allahabad High Court, was appointed as the chief justice of the Chhattisgarh HC, and Justice K Vinod Chandran of the Kerala High Court was appointed as the chief justice of the Patna HC.

Law Minister Kiren Rijiju tweeted about the fresh appointments. The name of Justice Diwaker was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium as then chef justice of the Allahabad High Court Rajesh Bindal was elevated as a judge of the apex court.

Justice Sinha's name was recommended by the SC Collegium in February to fill up the anticipated vacancy of the chief justice of the Chhattisgarh HC, which fell vacant on March 10 following the retirement of Justice Arup Kumar Goswami.

The Collegium had earlier recommended the name of Justice Chandran as the chief justice of the Gauhati High Court. But later, he was named as the chief justice of the Patna HC.
