Pune: Three arrested for cheating businessman

Three people have been arrested by Pune Police for allegedly cheating a businessman here of Rs five lakh, an official said on Thursday.
One of the accused gained confidence of the complainant by claiming to be a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government and offered to provide him fake Indian currency notes with face value of Rs 30 lakh in return for Rs 5.43 lakh, he said.
''The complainant gave Rs 5.34 lakh. When he realized that he had been duped and demanded his money back, the accused threatened with a pistol,'' said the official from Wanwadi police station.
The trio were arrested under Indian Penal Code sections 420 (cheating), 120B (conspiracy) and relevant sections of the Arms Act.
''The accused were trying to trap another person using the same modus operandi but nabbed before it,'' said the officer.
