US ambassador to China says foreign firms delaying investment in China

U.S. Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns said on Tuesday that a lot of foreign firms are delaying major investments in China until they can see consistency in messaging from Beijing about the openness of the country's economy.

Burns, speaking by video link with the Stimson Center think tank in Washington, added that the U.S. and China need greater stability in bilateral relations, and that Washington had not seen enough progress on issues such as narcotics.
