A former bureaucrat and press secretary to ex-President APJ Abdul Kalam met UAE's Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan on Wednesday and discussed the strong India-UAE ties and stressed the need and benefits of tolerance and equality in society. SM Khan, a 1982-batch IIS officer, served as Kalam's press secretary and his chief spokesman from 2002 to 2007. Khan presented his book on the former president ''The People's President: APJ Abdul Kalam,'' to the UAE minister. ''Honoured to have been invited by His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence at his Majlis today,'' he said. They also discussed the strong India-UAE relations, which Sheikh Nahyan said are at their peak. He also spoke about the need and benefits of tolerance and equality in the world and society at large. ''Sheikh Nahyan also praised the work done by the Indian community in the UAE and also looked forward to his visit to India,'' added.
