Maha: Tiger skin seized, two apprehended

The forest department on Wednesday seized a tiger skin after apprehending two persons in their early thirties in Maharashtra's Nagpur district, an official said.

Working on inputs about the smuggling of tiger body parts, a team from Nagpur and Bhandara forest divisions intercepted two persons at Paoni, said a release by Dr Bharat Singh Hada, deputy conservator of forest, Nagpur.

A search revealed that the two persons, who are residents of Chandrapur district, were carrying a tiger skin, it said.

A case is being registered against the duo under the Wildlife Protection Act, it added.
