Nicaragua's asylum offer to Panama's Martinelli 'move to undermine rule of law,' U.S. official says

Nicaragua's decision to grant asylum to former Panamanian President Ricardo Martinelli is "yet another move to undermine the rule of law and subvert justice," U.S. State Department official Brian Nichols said on Friday.

Martinelli is currently in the Nicaraguan embassy in Panama after a court rejected his appeal to annul a nearly 11-year prison sentence on money laundering charges.
