US welcomes establishment of Transitional Presidential Council in Haiti

The United States welcomed the establishment on Friday of a Transitional Presidential Council in Haiti, the State Department said in a statement.

"This Council helps pave the way for free and fair elections and the expedited deployment of a Multinational Security Support mission," the statement said.
