Police siezes foreign cigarettes worth Rs 3.3 crore detaining eight persons

Eight persons were Saturday detained and foreign cigarettes worth Rs 3.3 crore were seized in Maharashtra's Palghar district, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team stopped a tempo on Bhiwandi-Kaman Road in Waliv area of Vasai here at around 4:30 am and made the seizure, Inspector Prakash Birajdar of Waliv police station said.

He said the cigarettes, packed in 150 cartons, were of Indonesian make and were headed for Mumbai.
