EC Deploys Central Forces to Prevent Post-Poll Violence

The Election Commission has deployed central forces to various states beyond the June 4 counting day to prevent post-poll violence. Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal received security for 15 days, while Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh received protection until two days after the counting day.

The Election Commission is taking strong measures against post-poll violence by deploying central forces to various states beyond the June 4 counting day, sources revealed on Saturday. These measures are based on assessments provided by the states and central observers.

States such as Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal have been allocated security forces for 15 days following the counting day to maintain order. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh will have protections until two days after the counting day.

This decision comes as both Lok Sabha and assembly polls were conducted in these states. Notably, the counting of votes in the assembly elections of Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh is set to take place on June 2.
