Tragic Death in Telangana: Villager Killed by Maoists' IED

A 55-year-old man tragically lost his life after stepping on an improvised explosive device (IED) allegedly placed by a member of the banned CPI (Maoist) in Mulugu district, Telangana on Monday, according to police reports.

The fatal explosion occurred in the forest area near Kongal village of Wazeedu mandal while the man, his son, and three others were gathering firewood, a senior police official recounted.

Authorities believe the Maoists have been strategically planting IEDs in commonly trafficked areas to assert their presence. A similar explosion in late May claimed the life of a villager's pet dog, highlighting the ongoing threat.
