In a significant development, the Islamabad High Court has acquitted Pakistan's former Prime Minister Imran Khan in three high-profile cases, including the much-publicized cipher case. Despite this acquittal, Khan remains incarcerated, owing to a separate 10-year sentence in the Iddat case.

The 71-year-old politician and former cricketer has faced nearly 200 legal challenges since his ouster in April 2022. Monday's decision saw Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb clear him and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi of the cipher case charges.

The controversial cipher case revolves around Khan's public disclosure of a secret diplomatic document, which he claimed was evidence of a foreign conspiracy against his government. Despite his acquittal in this and other vandalism-related cases, the legal hurdles for Khan are far from over.
