DNA samples of the mother involved in the May 19 Pune Porsche crash were collected for testing, the police reported on Monday.
The samples are to confirm if the mother's, now arrested, were used instead of the juvenile's at Sassoon General Hospital for alcohol tests. Two IT professionals lost their lives when a speeding Porsche, allegedly driven by a drunk minor, struck them.
In connection with the blood sample swap, the police have previously arrested Dr. Ajay Taware and Dr. Shrihari Halnor. The juvenile's parents conspired with these officials for financial gains to swap the samples. A local court has remanded the parents in police custody until June 5.
The Crime Branch continues to collect crucial evidence and aims to file a swift chargesheet. Both the parents and the arrested doctors will face trial in a regular court, while the minor will appear before the Juvenile Justice Board.
