King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has praised the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) for ensuring that the recent elections were conducted in a free, fair, and credible manner. Traditional Prime Minister to the Zulu Nation and Monarch, Rev Thulasizwe Buthelezi, released a statement on Monday conveying His Majesty's commendation of the peaceful conduct exhibited by all political parties during both the campaign period and on Election Day.

On May 29, 2024, 16,248,027 South Africans exercised their Constitutional right to vote in the nation's seventh democratic elections. The IEC officially declared the elections free and fair during a ceremony held on Sunday to announce the results.

King Misuzulu called upon law enforcement agencies to deal firmly with anyone seeking to cause instability and mayhem following the election results. He instructed all izinduna in hostels around Gauteng and Durban to report any attempts to instigate violence, instability, or lawlessness.

"His Majesty is confident that all political leaders will commit themselves to respecting the outcomes of the elections and to playing their part in promoting peace, development, and stability," Buthelezi stated.
